Preceding the time this essay was written in 1933-34, Kabbalah was considered taboo. But Rav Ashlag, the founder of The Kabbalah Centre, was a visionary pioneer. He stood in the face of opposition and made it his mission to plead the case of studying this wisdom. In advance of World War II, he foresaw that darkness would fall upon the world. He believed that learning Kabbalah was the only way for people to reveal Light. Like a revolutionary fighting the status quo, Rav Ashlag fought for people to unlock their consciousness. He dedicated himself to revealing concealed aspects of the Bible and decoding the messages within. This essay was initially written as an introduction to The Study of the Ten Luminous Emanations —one of the most challenging yet profound kabbalistic texts, edited by Michael Berg, this essay aimed to implore the study of Kabbalah. Rav Ashlag believed that walking a kabbalistic path enabled people to find their true purpose and subsequently enjoy a life of fulfillment. This book gives insight into one of the most outstanding kabbalistic thought leaders. The text is deep and complex. One of the most challenging aspects is the tone of urgency. As people were swept up in pain and suffering, Rav Ashlag tried to explain that the Creator is good despite extreme events. “Choosing life” means challenging the sleepy way most people live. It means forming a connection to God, removing ego, and pursuing the spiritual path of Kabbalah. Although written many decades ago, the essays are timeless. The thoughts and messages within this text led to the formation of The Kabbalah Centre.

From the world's most significant authority on the teachings of Kabbalah, the most comprehensive explanation of the holidays ever created... Rosh Hashanah. Yom Kippur. Pesach. Chanukah. Are these holidays familiar to you? They are to most of us. But what do they mean kabbalistically? Are they just times for remembrance and family gatherings, or are there more than meets the eye? Holidays are Days of Power. As Rav Berg teaches, there are certain moments in the year when unique and transforming energies become available. By connecting to these energies, you can revolutionize your experience of life in the everyday world. You can end the chaos in all its forms, including physical and emotional pain, illness and aging, and even death. Precisely what does it take to connect to the energy of the holidays? No one understands the answer to that question better than Kabbalist Rav Berg, who has devoted a lifetime to learning and living the wisdom of Kabbalah. In Days of Power, Rav Berg not only describes the timeless rituals and ceremonies associated with the holidays, but he also explains their meaning with depth, precision, and passion that no other authority has ever achieved. In these pages, the holidays come alive as commemorations of historical events and as dynamic opportunities for change and growth. From this perspective, observing the holidays is not a religious obligation but a choice you can make to transform your life. No matter who you are, you can make that choice right now. This is unrelated to the religion in which you were raised, or the country where you were born, or any other comparatively superficial fact about you . . . The all-important first step is simply understanding that the opportunities described in this book are not just available but divinely intended for you. The rest is between you and the Light.
